Seconding Jeff's comment about hearing protection. Tinnitus is nasty; trust us.
Then, I'll pop in with a recommendation to forget about using a blower.
Raking is actually easier on the human body (in terms of muscle stress,
joint strain, and hearing) and doesn't throw dust, microbes, fungi, and
mold spores into the air (where they don't belong and cause recurring
health problems.)
