I saw a magazine article where the girl used an angle grinder with a diamond 
blade.  taped both sides of the cut and moved slow.  I'm thinking about trying 
that when I need to remove about 4" of tile in the kitchen.  you figure you go 
slow enough with anything and it'll turn out okay.
