Yabbut...I'm not getting a spark either way, so it's pretty hard to 
tell from that test which way is the right way :-)

Anyway, the dead man switch grounds when let go, so I'm sure this is a 
ground to kill system, and the ring connector is a mechanic error. 
Tomorrow I'll gather up my tools from the 3-4 places I left them and 
hopefully have enough to tear into it. *Everything* is attached to the 
engine cover though.. :\

I did find out from Toro's web site that it was manufactured in 1974. 
Yikes.
