Take a look at Handyman In-Your-Pocket, Young+Glover, Sequoia Publishing, 
ISBN 1-885071-29-9. Enough joist info in there to really confuse you! Great 
little publication, I probably use mine about once a week for stuff you 
can't readily find elsewhere.
