I just measured the hardware in my drawer...1/2-20; these are from several
of my old BMW's (all of which are metric).  I seem to recall that it's a
universal size, much like spark plugs were all one thread for many years.

just get out your ruler and count the number of threads in one inch; and the
bolt diameter

<<I just did some rust repair on the floor of my '66 Ranchero.  Not a big
repair, but I had to replace the part where the seat belt bolts to the
floor.  All that's left to do is to thread the hole for the mounting bolt.
Here's the problem........I have the stock mounting bolts, they're about
7/16", but the thread isn't fine, isn't course, and isn't metric.  What size
tap do I need?>>
