How much acid leaked out?  If the plates in the battery are now exposed,
the battery could be ruined.

Check the voltage at the battery terminals at rest and when cranking.
It's possible that there is corrosion between the cable and cable ends, or
between the battery and the clamps that is causing resistance.

Try cleaning battery terminals and cable ends.  Then try jumpering with a
jumper cable in parallel with each battery cable, basically making the
cable redundant.  If this fixes the problem, that cable you doubled is the
problem.
