The latest reports on Cell phone(1) radiation report no damage from cell
phone use. These studied people with brain cancer to see whether their
illness had any correlation with cell phone use. None was found.
Interestingly, earphones for listening remotely to cell phones might
actually concentrate the radiation in the ear. Those wires act as antennas
and lead right to the brain. The biggest danger to cell phone drivers is
still the actual talking and lack of attention to driving. Statistics are
similar to those for drunken drivers.
The short answer: Look at hands-free kits. They are becoming more and more
popular, especially as the government makes noises about illegalizing cell
phone use in cars without them. You might find an already developed kit to
do exactly what you want.

Subject: cell phone wiring
no, it isn't *shop* related, but I'm trying here first because there's
lots of knowledge here and if my s/o kills me while talking on the cell
phone I can't work in the shop.
what I want to do is hard wire her cell phone into the car's wiring system
so that the phone uses the car's speakers for output and a microphone for
input. the mic in I can probably handle, but is there a way to get the
phone to automatically override the radio? as well, any tips on wiring
the phone into the car's wiring. the goal here is complete handsfree and
the antenna as far away from her head as possible. why? 1) her driving
is bad enough without the cell in one hand, 2) she is deaf in one ear, so
the phone makes her 'deaf' to road noise while in use, 3) assuming her
driving doesn't get her killed, I don't want radiation from the antenna to
get her (I know, I know, but this is still the most important person in my
life here and if it *isn't* just a scare, then I want her around), and 4)
she often drives our son in the car and I like him just as much, and I
don't like the idea of them stranded because the phone cord wigged out
again and the phone doesn't work or she got them both killed in an
accident.
an e.e. I'm not, so simple explanations and short words are appreciated.
I can find my way around a pair of wire cutters and a multimeter, though.
thanks
