I've got a set of the Mechanix brand gloves (approx. $25).  They
are definitely useful - especially when working around hot engines.
They aren't great for grabbing small things, and I end up taking
them off when doing anything that requires much precise finger
control, but they are great when you're in a rush working to get
a car back out on track.
