Maybe.  I put the fan a ways down the duct on the theory that
more of the volatile compounds would evaporate, or would be at
a lower concentration, by the time they reached the fan motor.

Also, when spraying motorcycle parts (or small parts in general)
you use a small paint gun and don't spray much paint.

I never had a problem, but I am not sure that I would use the same
setup to paint something which requires a lot of paint, like a car exterior.
