This is a good point - you can get a good quality scanner for under $100
these days. With any kind of decent conventional photo the results will be
better than all but the very top of the line digital cameras. Plus, you can
scan all those photos you've already got lying around, or that embarrassing
shot of your spouse as a kid, or whatever.

If you just have an occasional need, get a $90 scanner and scan regular
photos or go to
Kinko's and scan them there.
