Kent,
The welder you linked can be compared to a Lincoln at Home Depot or Lowe's for
similar money. You can also shop at places like Indiana Oxygen Company online.
They're a big outfit and offer refurbished equipment as well as new. I found
them when shopping for the rock bottom cheapest price on a new Miller.
If you decide welding isn't for you, a Lincoln or Miller will be easy to sell.
You won't get any lookers for a no-name from China.
Good luck with your decision.
BTW, I looked online at Indiana Oxygen and found the Lincoln 125 for $328.

Sorry, I guess my email came through blank.
I really appreciate all of the feeback that I received. Now that my head has
stopped spinning (I think??), I will head back to the drawing boards. Classes
at the local community college is a great idea and I never thought about
that----I will definetly be looking into it.
One of the good brand names (miller, licoln, etc.) is what I would like to end
up getting but was looking for something inexpensive and basic just to get an
idea of how things work before dropping a lot of money. Have been searching
craigslist but come up ended handed so far.
Once again, I really appreciated everyone's thoughts and feedback.

Subject: [old-chevy-truck] MIG Welder Opinion
Fellow ole truckers:
Looking for a little guidance. I want to begin to learn how to weld so I need
to get a basic MIG welder. Attached is a link from Northern Tool (part #
164611
in case the link doesn't work). Please let me have your thoughts on it.
Would
like to keep the budget around $350. Just need something basic (as I have no
welding experience) to start out with and if I get into it then I can step up
to
a better name like Millermatic or something.
