How many miles are on the 216? Would rebuilding the engine and transmission give you the power you need? I'm kind of a lead foot, so I'm always going to lean towards the V 8. Installing a V 8 is not an easy task, installing an upgraded 6cyl may be easier. But it all depends what your ability is, how much you want to invest, and what your expectations are.
