Rick:

A225 might mean this:

A = January
22 = 22nd day
5 = 1985

Your block may have been cast on Jan. 22, 1985.

Heh Gang. My builder (younger brother who got me started in this sport) has
roughed my 305 into my 54 3100 we are rodding. My questions are as follows:
       1) How much space should we have between the back of the
distributor
cap and the firewall? It is sitting now at 1.25 inches.
       2) The motor has casting marks of
                GM   5.0   LG       14010201       A225
             Any help with what these indicate will be greatly appreciated.

The information available from this group is phenomenal. Thanks for sharing
your knowledge and advice.
