I would think that the indentation is the stock location. Since mine
had a stock granny gear floor shift I bought a new trans cover that is
for a column shift and then cut the hole for the T5 shifter location.
As you can see in my website it is a 235 I-6 engine.
I will send you my T5 install instructions off list.

Just checked out your web site. You are right, the shifter location is not
bad.
Is the "stock" 4 speed shifter location to which you refer located on the
floor pan where the circular indentions are formed in the floorpan?
Are you running a small block or a six?
Did you detail this install in an article some time back. I seem to
remember an article about this on the old truck site.
