Maybe they were half completed with the 6 point seat belt set up & the back
half wasn't done yet?!

This reminds me of a story... One time when I worked for my
brother Wayne Of 'Wayne's Auto Electric' (an Automotive shop) in
1950 we got a new olds in to tune up. Only problem was it was
being converted to a stock car, that's what they did in those
days. As I remember.... the glass was out, the interior had been
gutted a roll bar was installed, ect. They brought it in to Wayne
because he had quite a rep with the racers around Phoenix. the
only thing on the inside was a very study looking seat, welded up
out of tubing. Well after Wayne tuned it up, he had to road test
it, (he didn't really have to but if you'd have known Wayne...) He
took it around the block and all went well but when he had to make
a left onto 7th Av. To get back to the shop. It was rush hour, no
openings, so Wayne NAILED IT. As he crawled back out of the trunk
he realized that, evan though it had a seat belt, the seat wasn't
attached.
