Tom,

I'm guessing that you pulled the hoses of the heater core ends instead of
cutting the hose with a razor blade and then removing them?   The core is
probably still good and here's what you need to buy and how you can check
it:

1.  Buy a tire inner tube.
2. Two hose clamps

You need to cut the tube in half so you can clamp then ends on either core
tube so you can apply air to pressurize the core through the schrader valve.
I just use hose clamps to secure the hose end to the core.

Apply some air pressure to the tube and submerge the core in a bucket of
water to see where it's leaking.  I'm going to guess it leaks only where the
tube enters the actual core.

I just use some 60/40 solder, flux and my torch with a 00 tip to fix my
friends who did the same thing.
