What's all this about installing the choke in the "stock" location? That's
a luxury I didn't know existed. My dash looks like swiss cheese and every
hole is an "opportunity" for installing a new gadget. If there is
interference, just rearrange the contents, file a flat spot onto the shaft
or drill a bigger hole and ...
....keep on truckin'

I had my electrical motor rebracketed by Newport to allow the throttle
cable
and choke cable to fit in my '50. I also tried another brand that also had
the
same interference and returned it. I had no trouble putting in the switch
in
the stock location. It does however come with a knob that many will want to
replace with a stock looking one.
I've had no real problems with my motor but notice the stroke is shorter
on
the drivers side than the pass, really too short. Adjustment per their
directions wouldn't correct it. I think this winter I will cobble a
different
transmission arm to fix this.
I too have seen the $350 motor and wonder what the deal is. If I had it
to do
over I think I would try to cobble one in myself out out a VW or something.
I
thought I would save time during my frame-up by buying one where the
engineering was already done.
