Blackness on your spark plugs usually means running to rich in that cylinder,
unless the plug is oil soaked. there is hotter plugs, heavier oil such as 50
weight, at this point, these are band aids, till you decide to go through the
motor. B I would drive it, You probably want to not be leading the pack, if
you are burning oil. Good lu ck

I have a general question for all you knowledgable car folks.
My 1957 MGA is burning (and loosing but that is another issue) engine B
oil. B One cylinder in particular shows a very black spark plug. B
Compression is reading 140,140, 120, 140.
At what point is lower compression doing damage to the engine as a B
whole, and necessitates pulling the car off the road for a rebuild?
I would like to run it through the summer but do not want to wreck the B
engine.
