Hi Norm,
Thanks very much for the encouragement Norm. I'm very glad you had an
enjoyable drive and time together with the members. I got a laugh out of
your joke when I read it! I think you and Charlie expressed what we were
all feeling at the time, and again, it ended up quite well (should have
stuck around, Charlie). I think we all understand that whether
pre-planned or not, we'll never be completely prepared for what's down
the road...
However, pre-planning is easier in some respects for me, since I tend to
pick the same roads I'm used to if left to a last-minute decision, and
really suck at remembering road names or the relationships of smaller
roads to each other. Thank the Prince of Darkness (Lucas) that Trish was
my navigator! It's fun to try new routes, and pre-planning them can work
out pretty well, especially for those who would like to know where they
will end up so they can plan their return home.
To Ron:
I'm happy to do more pre-planned routes, and think one helpful thing
would be to come up with a tentative route 2 weeks or so ahead, let the
members know about it, then if anyone knows of a conflict, closed road,
bad road conditions, etc., they can let the planner know and the route
can be easily readjusted. Avoiding conflicts with other Brit car club
drives and classic car races would be pretty easy to do, but knowing
when all the bike events are is way out of my league.
Anyone have suggestions to float now, so the route can be worked out?
Cheers,
Greg
