It's funny you should mention the new brighter lights.
Back in the stone age (60's) my rally car had several
Cibie quartz-iodine lights and once each year I had
to pull them all off the car (including headlamps)
because New Jersey inspection permitted only the dim
yellow sealed beams.
I never complained about the labor though because my
philosophical reasoning went thusly...
If everybody had extremely bright lights they would
still drive around with the high-beams on all the time
and their fog lights mis-aimed. No sense of civic duty.
So I was content to be virtually the only driver with
bright lights at the cost of the annual dismantling.
Boy, was I ever right! I'm a regular Nostrildamus.
Well, Pandora's box is opened now and we'll never get
those foglights and green headlights back in the box.
