DON - I have not heard of any breakage of 4/4 spindles but I have heard tales
of bending them. If you do not want to use +8 spindles then I would use
competition/HD +4 spindles. I am assuming they are the same size (help me out
here +4 racers) as the +8 spindle but would make it easier to use your new wire
wheels. New/old/used, I would still have them crack-tested.

Subject: Spindles
Greg, You had asked about the heat treating process and hardness that I was
able to achieve with the 62 SS spindles. I am reasonabley certain that we
got Rockwell 22 BUT when I went to the same treater today to pick up my 4/4
spindles he advise me that they would not harden. He said they are just mild
steel and there is nothing he can do with them. Guess I`ll look into
something better but has anyone ever had problems with spindle breakage on
the 4/4 with racing tyres.
Cheers
Don
