Dave,
My 65 4/4 didn't have any new. The PO installed one on the drivers side.
The 1st day I had it on the road I was rear ended and the car totaled. When
I restored it (69) I installed lap belts. When I recently restored it (88-92)
I installed new lap belts. I got them from PEP Boys for about $20 ea.
I drilled a hole through the cross stringer just behind the seat wedges and
installed large eye bolts and a plate to reinforce the bottom of the stringer.
Then I put another eye bolt through the 1st bolt and attached the lap belts
to this eye bolt.
And I agree. I don't like having a shoulder belt without a roll bar. It
really bugs me driving my Spit with the 3 point belts.
Hope this helps.
