Regarding options for cleaning/polishing/showcasing aluminum parts, such as
dash pots etc.  There is a type of chrome plating called "satin chroming"
which gives the appearance of polished metal without the labor intensive
process of polishing. They keep beautifully with only an occasional swipe of
the rag.  you might want to consider that.
