You should have two types of washer, the ones you mention and the 267-130
dished brass washers. The former going behind the gears on the half-shaft
and the latter behind the gears on the pinion pin? It seems to be the case
that it is the former that wear, often to nothing, but the latter don't

replaced or refitted.
As far as pulling the half-shaft goes for the benefit of others probably the
easiest way is to remove the hub and bearing cap, then refit the hub with
spacers between it and the ears on the axle casing, and tighten the hub nut.
Get the spacer thickness right so you can just get the nut started, and it
should pull the half-shaft and bearing right out.
