Alas, I am sans cigarette lighter, but if that doesn't
harm anything, hopefully hooking up to the starter
switch lead won't either.

I was thinking about that. My car usually sits over the
winter. The batteries were new when the restoration was
completed four years ago, and it was usually a little
sluggish to turn over first time in the spring, but this
was the first time I'd had it just about dead after being
driven only a couple weeks before.
