Lucas bullet connectors are *not* soldered from the factory, they are
crimped. Spade connectors are spot-welded.
After-market bullet connectors of the correct type are soldered, but there
are also over and under size bullet connectors that are crimped, and spade
connectors that are crimped or soldered. Personally I crimp spade
connectors first then solder, using a high-power iron very briefly, then
heat-shrink tubing over the connector and the wire insulation for an inch or
so. Use Vaseline or similar to lubricate and protect bullet connectors, and
use a purpose built or home-made insertion tool to make sure they are pushed
fully home.
