Paul, I replied to you personally with a picture of the place where the
interference takes place.
Your idea of just loosening the bumper bolt is a good one. I'll try that
next time I need to remove the grille.

"an inch and a half too narrow"? Is that *in front* of the end of the drain
channels? If so either your grill is much wider than mine or your wings
much closer. The support bar should be recessed into a groove in the rubber
so shouldn't interfere. By slackening (instead of removing) the two bolts
that support the bumper you should gain enough clearance between bumper and
body to remove it. By adding shims you could permanently gain enough
clearance, at the expense of a bigger gap 'tween bumper and body.
