On the side of the knob there is a very small hole. Take a small nail and stick
into the hole and it will push the plunger into the pin allowing you to jimmy
the knob off the pin. It can be stuck due to the time. I would get some
releasing fliud into the hole, like PB blaster. Sometimes you find you have had
a DPO glue it on. In that case you take a dremel with a cut off wheel and you
'cut it off'

There must be a trick to getting the heater control knobs off. It's a '63
MGB. The dash is out of the car and I want to take the knobs off to get the
controls off. Should be a simple thing but they won't budge. Haynes says "press
the
plungers in the shanks of the heater control knobs and pull the knobs off".
Yea, right - what plungers?
