I just had my MGA engine rebuilt, and it was sprayed with Moss 'Red', which
is more of a maroon. Definitely not orange. I also bought some of the Moss
paint, (220-540) and it is the same color (red/maroon) that the engine
rebuilder used.

Subject: Engine Colour
Ahhhh......I went to respray the engine on the MGA with Moss engine paint.
And it comes out orange, not the proper red.
Checked with my local Moss distributor, who told me that Moss seems to be
under the impression that later MGs (after the T series) had their engines
painted this horrid orange colour.
Well it isn't so - it was a nice dark red - unless all of my engines have
somehow managed to fade from orange to an identical shade of dark red over
the
years. Does anyone make the correct colour out there? He said that the T
series paint supplied by Moss is better, but surely someone had paint
matched
and produces the right stuff.
This explains why I've seen so many horrid orange engines at concours in
recent years.
Moss may not be the only offenders - does anyone know if this silliness is
widespread?
