Thank you to everyone that has replied. It's always good to hear different ideas ! I've decided to clean it with (lots of) water first, to get rid of as much sand as I can. Let it dry in the sun, clean it with methanol alcohol and then use POR-15 fuel tank sealer. I will let you know the results.
