I'll start by saying I have no specific info on this situation. But it seems
to me that the only limitation on bushing length would be the depth of the
hole. So I don't see any problem with the 1.5" bushing. But there would seem
to be some slight possibility that the 1" bushing  would be too short (I can
imagine it sitting too deep into the hole to engage properly). My guess is
that some cranks are only drilled 1" to 1.25" deep, that being the reason
for a short bushing option.
