Hi listers,
Since today is a quiet day at work, I'll post an update on the MGA restoration.
The bodywork and chassis are ready to be painted. What I've done was basically
to reassemble all the car (chassis, body, doors, bonnet, top, etc) to make sure
every little detail fits nicely. Next wednesday I'll take the chassis and all
associated components to be sand-blasted, after which they will be painted.
The idea here is to have the chassis ready to start mounting the engine,
gearbox, suspensions, diferential, brakes, electrics, etc, etc, while the body
is being painted.
The engine and gearbox are ready to be fitted. Today I had the radiator
re-cored (is that the right way of saying it?) by a specialist shop with a
three layer one. People in the local MG club have done so to prevent
overheating, and they tell me it got much better.
This week I'll send the calipers and master brake pump to Classicar Automotive
in England (http://classicbrakes.co.uk) to be renovated, and I'll start working
on the diferential next weekend.
I hope to start assembling the chassis in one or two weeks.
Take a look at http://homepage.oninet.pt/541mhc/mga.htm for some more pictures,
but only tomorrow. I'll do the update late today.
Best,
Rui
