What a glorious pain in the butt!. With the heatshield for the carb,
it was nearly impossible to remove the cover to the float with the
carb in place, and only possible if I bent the heatshield out of the
way. Unfortunately it was well beyond my dexterity (or probably the
dexterity of anyone born with finger rather than tentacles) to
actually fix the jet adjustment with the carb in place.
it is also impossible to remove the carb from the blower with the unit
installed. Hence my post asking about reusing manifold gaskets. I've
got it back together, and with the carb backed off to a reasonable
mixture at idle, I seem to have pinging again at full throttle around
3000 RPM, so I'll have to richen up the midrange mixture yet
again. I'll wait until tomorrow when I can actually see the CO meter
while I'm driving.
I've got way too much work to do tomorrow night to get the car ready
to haul to the track Friday after work. Oh well, sleep is for sissies.

I've found something worse than oldies station that play the music I used to
listen to. Oldies stations that play the "new" music I used to complain about.
