Troy, this is an easy one: If you want a powerful, great handling
car, don't buy a 25 year old classic. If you want period-performance,
then you already have it. If the goal is to defend the honor of the
great MG marque, do so in vintage events not on the street where
it is out-performed by most family sedans.
I showed my 1930 Chevrolet to the kid down the street. He
was enamored with the car but he had two questions: "What can
you do to hop it up?" and "Are you gonna put a killer stereo in it?"
My answers were, "Nothing.", "No." and I added, "I gotta run."
I own a '79 Ferrari 308GTB and it is fast BUT it is not in the same
league with modern supercars by any measure. It is what it is.
Enjoy you car for what it is, not for what you wish it could become.
You'll be happier. We'll be happier. Easy, eh?
