Thank you to all who explained how to adjust the
floats for the HIF4. Finished that up today. Put in
new plugs since the old ones were badly fouled.
My new problem now is that the car smokes. It didn't
do this before. It only smokes a little at idle
(barely noticeable) I think that this is more due to
the fact that it is running rich. However, when I rev
the engine, it smokes like a train. It looks blue,
however it smells very strongly of gas. I know that
blue usually means oil, which when revving the engine
I think means valve seals, but do these engines have
valve seals? Also, there is a tube running from the
crank case, that Y's off to both carbs. I left this
disconnected on intial testing and set the idle. When
I hooked the hoses back up to the carbs it began
idling very roughly and died. Is this hose hooked up
the right way? I can't find this exact set-up in the
book. I did remove the air rail and the gulp valve,
but this hose set-up was already in place.
Any ideas?

Thank You
Zach
