There are several possible problems, but the one that comes to mind
is that the bonnet is too far closed, and the probe is caught on the
framework below the latch assembly. When this happens on my A I
carefully separate two slats in the center of the grille and insert
my old pointer type torque wrench, hook the probe with it and give a
good tug or push as appropriate. As soon as the probe clears the
framework it is able to open. I then try and realign the probe
before it goes through the latch again. Hope this works for you.
