Congrats on your acquisition. Don't worry about staying in the slow lane.
If it's in decent shape (as it seems to be) it can cruise all day at
4000rpm +. The durability of the motor is not the weak point in the MGB,
given adequate cooling. I remember a trip to Yosemite where I maintained
an 85mph cruise across the Central Valley -- before I installed
overdrive. Admittedly, you may want to restrain yourself somewhat until
you are confident in the capabilities of this particular car.
Steve & Bonnie Sidwell had this to say:
>It's a 1978 MGB...*just* repainted the original Brooklands Green...and
>getting a new Moss Autumn Leaf interior as we speak. We pick up the car
>this Saturday (the dealer is about an hour North of us in San Luis
>Obispo). Gotta be honest here...I'm a little nervous contemplating
>driving the *beast* even an hour on the Freeway. Definitely "slow-lane"
>stuff here. So....here's the first of, and I promise, no less than a
>hundred questions...since the car does not have overdrive, any
>recommendation on RPM limits?
