Many of us have a home compressor but not a big fancy cast iron pipe delivery
system which helps separate the water.  If you really want the water separator
to work, add a piece of flex coil air line between the compressor tank and the
water separator.  Wrap most of the coil around a brick and drop it into a five
gallon bucket of water.  You will now have to empty the separator's vial a lot
more often.  Guaranteed!
