Ok, I'm hitting the limits of my knowledge, so I look to the list for help.
The 1500 engine in my 58 ZB Magnette is not in good enough shape to use as
is. I was hoping to pop a new clutch in the car and get it drivable. No
luck.
I am not going to rebuild the 1500 engine.
Does anyone have hands on experience with installing a 5 main 1800 onto a
non-synchro (preferably Magnette w/top mounted slave) gearbox?
British Automotive has useful information on the web site. But I cannot use
the MGB clutch kit as the nose of the Magnette transmission will not
interchange with the MGB one.
I know the rear engine plate must be machined for an oil seal. Will the
Magnette flywheel mount up to the 5 main crank? Or will the MGA clutch
cover mate up with the MGB non-synchro flywheel?
Next question. Has anyone looked into removing the remote control from an
all synchro gearbox, and made up a direct shift lever assembly?
Enquiring minds and all that.
Thanks
Kelvin.
