...I have to agree (here in MD USA) I have the Peco HDR system...
header, pipe and rear muffler installed on my '73 BGT
although the larger diameter (2") pipe gives excelllent free flow
you do lose a little torque at the very low end of the
rpm range. But mid and high end does get a torque boost do to
the extra scavenging. It also has a very pleasant note...
when you rev it over 4K it really sound nice and you can easily tell
the power band is coming in.
It fits very nicely up under where it should.
After nearly a year with this system in place.... it's still red! (orig painted
color)
all the way up to the header.
...I highly recomend this particular system.

Subject: Re: A pothole ate my tailpipe
Apologies if this system isn't available in the States, but I have a Peco
HDR Exhaust system which sits very neatly under the body of my '75 BGT.
The system comprises a 2 inch bore pipe all the way through (I got the
matched manifold for the system also) feeding into a large single silencer
(muffler) in the rear.
This gives the benefit of not having to worry about the centre silencer
(muffler). In addition to this, the rear silencer is skidplated at the
front, and the quality/grade of the steelwork looks like it would happily
shrug off a couple of knocks if necessary !
Cheers,
