My 66 has a driver's side fender mount bullet mirror that is
strategically placed so that with the seat in my driving position the
windshield post obscures approximately 90% of the mirror. This is
(obviously) not a recommendation. I was thinking the door would be a
better location, though one would have to take one's eyes further from
the road. Otherwise it would have to be far forward on the wing, similar
to the passenger side mirrors you frequently see. For most of production,
mirrors were a dealer installed option, so original is a spurious
concept, anyway.
