While I sympathize with those reluctant to post their phone numbers to a
page, I'm also concerned about usability if we delegate the distribution of
regional lists to "coordinators", not to mention keeping everything
organized.
It seems there are enough people who aren't concerned to make this work. I
was thinking the page could be made so that a username and password would be
required to view it. To get an account, you would have to fill in a small
form about yourself and then a randomly generated passsword would be mailed
to you. This would at least encure that if some abuse happened, there would
be a valid email address to "trace". Similar to the members area of the
MG The Classic Marque megasite. That would at least provide some security
and could make a lot more people willing to participate.
Once viewing the page, it could be printed out and taken with you on your
trip.
I like the idea of making the scope all classic British car enthusiasts.
The project needs a name though...
British Car Travel Support Network ?
I probably won't have the time to write the code until after XMas, I only
have another week before I'm off to the midwest for the holidays.
