MY thanks to all for their suggestions on restoring my new (hah!) '71 B
to life. She has roared to life and is now running after a little
cleaning of the points.
Of course now all the electricals are shot. No tachometer, turn signals
(hazards DO work, so it's not the bulb/ground), tail lights, gas gauge,
etc.
The gas gauge doesn't work because there is NO wire running to the
sending unit... I'm debating trying to find it or just running one of my
own. Opinions?
I also tried to deal with the turn signals as they were working when I
test drove the little beast. After hauling out the proper schematic, it
seems that the purple wire that feeds the turn signals has no juice. So
I think to myself "blown fuse"... wrong. Fuse is fine, power on both
sides of the fuse block. The next place I can find a connection is
behind the radio console, and it's dead as a doornail, as is the feed on
the steering column. Any thought on where else to check? I'd really
rather not tear into the harness itself...
Any thoughts on why the tach is not working? I haven't dug in behind
the dash yet, but again, this is something that was working when I test
drove it. (I remember remarking that it was idling at 1500...)
The rest I haven't dug into yet, but will keep you all updated as it
progresses. Any suggestions or tips would be welcome!
