I have tried this, but unfortunately, the bulk buy bolts at farm supplies are
usually only available in course thread, the fine thread are by the piece and
very salty. I found a fastener house in Chicago and bought boxes of 100 bolts
very cheep (5/16-24 x 3/4 grade 5 plated @ $2.88/c). Check the Yellow Pages of
most larger cities under "fasteners / wholesale", although they normally will
only sell in box quantities.
