Hi Erik,
Last time I needed an alternator for a B ( a '70 I had years ago) I
got a lifetime-warranty rebuilt unit from Autozone. It was cheaper and
if it dies you take it back and get another one for free. I never took
it back as it was still on there when I sold the car 5 yrs later.
I know that some MG'ers will throw up their hands in horror at the
mere mention of Autozone but I've had good service out of their rebuilt
electrical stuff over the years. In fact, I have one of their rebuilt
lifetime-warranty starters on my present B, a '69. It has been on there
for about 6 mos.
