Single point injection as used on many small European cars would get
round this. This is what ROVER developed for the current MINI, ( same
engine as the Sprite/Midget.) No way will Rover develop an aftermarket
EFi for MGB's, the market is not big enough. One company HAS developed a
system for the MGB though, 'Falcon Classics' on UK 0115 944 0044.

Yes, I wondered about those inlet ports!!! Thought perhaps MG had
another head I did not know of, ( leg-pull.)

BMC developed quite a few 'new' engine to replace the four-pot inline
'B' series. In 1961 one MGA had a 2.0 litre V4 fitted, as did two Austin
A60's, and trials were carried out. The MGA's engine was fitted to a
MGB. The MGB topped 120mph it is rumoured. The design of the V4 was a
copy almost of the then current LANCIA narrow-angle V4. Two sizes were
made, 1500cc and 2000cc. The 1500cc engines went into tiny Austin A40
saloons. Lack of money stopped their use. BUT a single OHC version of
the 'B' series was then developed, and specially for the MGB in about
1873. Infact two of these engines were built and fitted to MGB's. In
1980 they had been developed far enough with twin-carbs, OR fuel
injection, AND both could have an exhaust turbo fitted. These cars were
de-smogged and preparations were made to fit this 'O' series engine to
the MGB.

But Abingdon was closed.....Aston Martib tried to buy MG, and use this
engine, but that failed in 1981.

The 'O' series WAS used in a MG, the Maestro and Montego, and with EFi
and some with a Turbo, but the USA never saw these 'rockets sedans'.

The V4 was not fuel injected.
The 'O' series went into the Morris Marina, ( Austin Marina USA,) from
1978. It was as a 1700cc or 2000cc engine.
