Mike - the gas gauge ground only supplies the panel lamps, not the gauge
itself. It
has a 'stabilised' 12v (actually 12v switched on and off a couple of times a
second) on
one terminal and a resistance ground from the tank transmitter on the other.
The
electric temperature and oil pressure gauges are the same. If none of them are
working
but the tach, heater fan etc are then the stabiliser, or its connections, is
probably
the culprit. The stabiliser has 12v in (green, fused ignition) and light
green/green
out. The stabiliser itself has to be bolted to a good ground to supply the
correct
voltage.
