Its funny how many tricks peoples minds play on them......
"just the other week" for example could mean six monthas ago, similarly
"every two months or so" could mean twice in 1994... no matter, if it
runs and has reasonably acceptable compression then go for the easy fix -
fill it with nice new detergent gas, change the oil (engine/trans/rear
end) change all the filters (oil/air/petrol) change the plugs, points and
cap and see what happens - after a long sit like this id be inclined to
change the engine oil again after 4-500 miles, once the new lot has
dissolved some of the thromboses undoubtedly lurking in the nether
regions of the block, waiting to clog some unsuspecting artery and give
the poor soul a stroke!
Dont forget to check brake fluid levels and watch carefully for any
seepages through the rims - them rubbers likely gonna be goners !
Once its running- fill the dashpots, lean off the carbs a bit if it needs
it and go for about a "half-tankful-drive"!
AND - if it isnt leaking, something must be clogged!!!
Glad to see you got it Alan - California car and what you paid for it -
im green with envy!!!
