Yep, I have to agree with Skip here. Just go out and buy the new pump and
fit it in there. No jerry rigging just to get the darn thing to work, and it
will last just as long(well maybe not quite as long) as any other pump.
If you want to do the rebuild and save some bucks, the kits are around $30,
but having never seen a pump before, I really had a tough time rebuilding mine.
After
I took it apart and fumbled with it for an hour or so, I figured out that it
isn't too bad at all to work with. But if I had to do it over again, I would
have just bought the new pump for slightly more dollars and saved myself an
hour or so.
