I have a '58 MGA with a 62 MGB block. The header to get is the run of the
mill MGA header. The cylindar heads for both A and B have the same pattern,
cut the angles and bends need to be right for an A. That said, I have a
header on mine, and it fits the system great. I installed a stainless steel
exhaust system, so there was some cutting (to the exhaust system not the
header - the exhaust system is made to mate up to a stock MGA exhast
manifold). I had to shim the header, as the intake manifold was a bit
thicker than the exhaust header - the exhaust leaked without the shims. I'm
not sure what background you have on the engine swap, but it will be a much
bigger issue than fitting an MGA header. You will need the right backplate
and starter along with the right clutch plate, and flywheel. these will
have to mate up to the transmission. If you were using a Mk I engine, it
would not be as big an issue.
